There Is A Plan For The Indonesian National Team To Play At JIS, Erick Thohir Makes Sure Not To Disturb Persija

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team is planned to hold a match at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS).

The plan was announced by the General Chairperson (Ketum) of PSSI, Erick Thohir. He ensured that the agenda would not interfere with Persija Jakarta as the team based in JIS.

"Well, this is what we can take advantage of later, whether the (Indonesian National Team) match is senior, U-20, U-17, we can use the facilities owned by the DKI Regional Government, one of which is JIS. That's what we conveyed," said Erick Thohir in Jakarta quoted from a statement on Thursday, August 14, 2025.

Regarding the plan for the Indonesian national team's agenda at JIS, Erick Thohir assessed that Persija and Jakmania did not need to worry. The problem is, later the schedule for using JIS will not interfere with the Kemayoran Tiger home match.

"If you say the cage is the Indonesian national team, yes, throughout Indonesia, like now the U-17 Indonesian national team is playing in North Sumatra. Yes, that's part of how we activate that the Indonesian national team belongs to all of us."

"Well, including if later the facilities are at JIS, we can play for several championships or matches for the Indonesian national team and not disturb the team that uses it (the stadium)."

"If we look at PSSI now, we really are building the Indonesian national team seriously. We have succeeded in building the Indonesian Women's National Team strata. Now there are U-16s, U-20s, and even seniors. Then, even in his son, the U-17 Indonesian national team is currently testing it," said Erick again.

Then, the chairman of PSSI also revealed that the U-23 Indonesian national team will host Group J of the 2026 U-23 Asian Cup Qualification.

"The U-23 Indonesian national team will compete again in September 2025, the seniors too. What does that mean? This Indonesian national team strategy requires many sports facilities."

"Well, that's what I also conveyed earlier to the Governor (Pramono Anung) for the FIFA calendar which next year is March. It doesn't interfere with the league schedule. The problem is, if the FIFA Matchday the league stops," said Erick.
