Indonesia Firmly Rejects Israel Raya's Vision, Indonesian Ministry Of Foreign Affairs: Violate International Law!

JAKARTA - Indonesia firmly rejects the "Israel Raya vision" as a violation of international law, reiterating that peace can only materialize the realization of the Two-State Solution.

The Indonesian Government's strong response was conveyed by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the statement of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding "Israel Raya's vision"

"Indonesia rejects and strongly condemns the Israeli Prime Minister's vision of "Israel Raya" through full annexation of the Palestinian territories and other countries in the region," wrote RI Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Vahd Nabyl A. Mulachela to VOI.id via text message, Thursday, August 14 evening.

"This vision is in fact violating international law, and decreasing the prospects for peace in Palestine and the Middle East. For Indonesia, fair and sustainable peace can only be realized by upholding rights that cannot be lifted for the Palestinian people to determine their own destiny and live side by side with Israel based on the Two-State Solution, according to the international parameters that have been agreed upon," Vahd explained.

Earlier, Netanyahu said in an interview with TV channel I24 that he was bound by Israel Raya's vision when interviewer Sharon Gal showed a map described as "Promising Land".

"Very much," Prime Minister Netanyahu said when asked about whether he felt connected to Israel's vision, saying he was carrying out a "historic and spiritual mission," quoted by The Times of Israel.

Gal asked Israel Raya, following questions about whether PM Netanyahu was carrying out a mission on behalf of a Jew.

PM Netanyahu said he was carrying out a mission to bring "the Jewish generation that dreams of coming here and the generations of Jews that will come after us."

Israel Raya is a term used in Israeli politics to refer to the expansion of Israeli territory that includes the West Bank, Gaza and the Golan Heights in Syria, with several interpretations also covering the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt and parts of Jordan.

This statement drew strong criticism from the Palestinian Authority, the militant group Hamas, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and various countries in the world.

"Indonesia calls on the international community, particularly the UN DK, to reject any form of annexation and permanent occupation by Israel - in Palestine or anywhere in the region - as well as take concrete steps to stop Israel's policies that undermine the prospects for peace," Vahd concluded.
