Not Bauxite, Illegal Mining In Cibinong Turns Out To Be Galena
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) through the Director General (Dirjen) of Law Enforcement (Gakkum) Jeffri Huwae straightened out a previous statement that he had taken action against an illegal bauxite mine in Cibinong, West Java.
Jeffri said that the commodities being mined were not bauxite but a galena ore mine. Just so you know, the galana is included in the type of commodity classified as critical mineral.
"Tambang Galena. Correction. Not bauxite," he said in a statement to the media, Thursday, August 14.
Jeffri said this control was carried out after receiving reports from the public. After reviewing the permit, he continued, the mine has not yet obtained complete licensing, but has started operating.
Based on a search by the Directorate General of Law and Human Rights, Jeffri said that this mine does not even have a Work Plan and Budget (RKAB).
"It turns out that the permit is not complete. RKAB does not yet exist. Currently it is still under development," he continued.

Jeffri ensured that his team had also secured the mining materials that had been produced from the illegal mining. However, the Directorate General of Law and Human Rights has not been able to confirm the amount of state losses caused by these illegal mining activities.
"Stockpile has been secured at the location. The losses have not been calculated," he said.
