Ahmad Dhani Questions WAMI Who Is Sharp To Cafes And Restaurants But Blunt To Singers And Big Bands
JAKARTA - Ahmad Dhani questioned Wahana Musik Indonesia (WAMI)'s attitude as the largest Collective Management Institute (LMK) in Indonesia, which was deemed to have implemented double standards.
As is known, the National Collective Management Institute (LMKN) and LMK received widespread attention after the Mie Gacoan case in Bali.
Although the case has been resolved with mediation, Mie Gacoan has finally paid royalties of Rp. 2.2 billion. Fear among cafe and restaurant entrepreneurs cannot be dammed. They even chose not to play songs/music anymore.
WAMI itself has never explicitly supported criminal measures for cafe and restaurant owners who are reluctant to pay royalties. However, WAMI's statement that weddings must also pay royalties, so the convergence is in the eyes of the public.
With this condition, Dhani questioned WAMI's attitude, which was felt sharp towards cafe and restaurant entrepreneurs, but it was not the same when dealing with big singers or bands who refused to pay compensation and asked permission from composers.
"Why is WAMI sharp to cafes, restaurants, hotels but blunt to rich singers/bands, who reject composite fees (and) who refuse composite permits," Dhani wrote, citing an upload caption, Thursday, August 14.
In fact, according to the Dewa 19 frontman, singers or bands who refuse compensation and composer permits are the same as cafe and restaurant entrepreneurs who avoid collecting royalties.

Previously, Dhani also criticized Robert Mulyarahardja's statement as Head of Corporate Communications & Membership WAMI, which stated that the royalty rate of 2 percent of the production costs was applied to music performances at weddings.
The musician who currently serves as a member of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI) said the regulation actually destroyed the fate of the composers.
"This is who made the system, how come it's really messy, it's the fate of the composer of the disaster," concluded Dhani.
