U-21 Women's Volleyball World Championship, Indonesia Continues To Run Vs Thailand
JAKARTA The next Indonesian Women's Volleyball national team will face Thailand for the classification match ranked 9-16 at the U-21 Women's Volleyball World Championship or the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women's U-21 World Championship.
Indonesia's journey in this tournament was stuck in the round of 16 after suffering a 1-3 defeat (12-25, 19-25, 25-21, and 13-25) against Italy at the Java Pos Arena, Surabaya, East Java, on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, evening WIB.
The defeat against Italy forced Marcos Sugiyama's squad to get out of the race for the title and continue their work for the ranking classification match only.
In the match against Italy, the Garuda Pertiwi squad did not go down with full strength, but could put up a fight against the opposing team on paper.

Waode Ardiana, Junaida Santi, and Kadek Diva are the three players who missed the match. The three of them could not be played by the coach because they were still covered in injuries.
"It's like we haven't lost any important players. The available players show they are able to face pressure and answer trust," Sugiyama said after the match.
Junaida Santi and her friends originally finished fifth in the final standings of Group A, where they should not be able to continue their journey to the round of 16.
Garuda Pertiwi was then declared to have moved up to third after the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) sanctioned Vietnam, which was proven to be using unauthorized players in the tournament.
During the group phase, Indonesia only secured one win, namely against Canada in the second match. The Garuda Pertiwi squad also collected five points from the five matches played.
On the other hand, Thailand completed their journey in Group D by taking fourth place, a place that qualified for the round of 16. They won twice and lost three times.
The country's journey by the White Elephant then ran aground against China in the round of 16. They lost a landslide of 0-3 (15-25, 18-25, and 19-25) against the Bamboo Curtain country.
The clash between Indonesia and Thailand will take place on Friday, August 15, 2025. The match will be held at Gelora Pancasila at 20.00 WIB.
