Cassation Granted By The Supreme Court, Agnez Mo No Longer Mandatory To Pay Rp1.5 Billion To Ari Bias

JAKARTA - The Supreme Court (MA) granted the cassation request of musician Agnes Monica Muljoto alias Agnez Mo in the copyright dispute case with Arie Sapta Hernawan alias Ari Bias regarding the song titled "Just Ticket".

Amar decision: Kabul,' said the verdict Number 825 K/PDT.SUS-HKI/2025 quoted from the information page of the Supreme Court's Case in Jakarta, Thursday.

Agnez Mo's appeal was registered on July 4, 2025, then decided on Monday (11/8) by Supreme Court Justice I Gusti Agung Sumanatha as chairman of the cassation panel of judges along with two member judges, Panji Widagdo and Rahmi Mulyati.

"Status: The case has been decided, is in the process of mitigating", explained the status of the cassation case.

Previously, Thursday, January 30, the Commercial Court at the Central Jakarta District Court granted Ari Bias' lawsuit against Agnez Mo.

The first instance court stated that Agnez Mo was proven to have committed copyright infringement because he had used a commercial song by Ari Bias, "Just Ticket", at three concerts without the creator's permission.

The three concerts without permission, namely the concert on May 25, 2023 at W Superclub Surabaya, the concert on May 26, 2023 at The H Club Jakarta, and the Concert on May 27, 2023 at W Superclub Bandung.

Therefore, the panel of judges at the Commercial Court sentenced Agnez Mo to pay a cash fine of Rp. 1,500,000,000 (Rp. 1.5 billion) to Ari Bias.

However, with the cassation decision, the first instance court verdict was canceled. Thus, Agnez Mo is no longer required to pay a fine of Rp. 1.5 billion.

"Yes, if the decision in the Supreme Court is like that, yes, that means it doesn't pay," said MA spokesman Yanto when confirmed in Jakarta, Thursday.
