Instagram Develops Picks Feature To Find The Same Interest
JAKARTA Instagram, a platform owned by Meta, is reportedly creating a new feature called Picks. This feature is designed to help users find friends who have similar interests.
This feature was first discovered by an engineer named Alessandro Paluzzi. He often reveals the discovery of features that are currently under development in an application. When asked, Instagram confirmed this development.
The social media platform confirmed to TechCrunch that Picks is an internal prototype. This feature is still in the internal development stage so that the company has not conducted external testing.
Instagram did not reveal details of this feature, but Paluzzi has shared screenshots of the feature. This feature will later be placed on the Direct Messenger (DM) tab, parallel to the Notes feature.
Users will be asked to select their favorite movies, books, TV shows, games, and music. After that, Instagram will find a match with friends who have similar choices.

Apparently, Instagram is developing Picks as a driver of more personal interaction between users. This feature can trigger deeper conversations and relationships around the same interest.
This development is in line with the statement by the Head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, at the beginning of the year. Moserri said that Instagram will focus on creativity and connections this year and plans to make content consumption more interactive.
Given that this feature is still being developed in the prototype stage, it is not yet known when or whether Instagram will officially launch Picks. The reason is, many features are developed internally, but never seen in the public version.
