Sunny Jakarta Today, Residents Asked To Beware Of Local Rain Tonight

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that most areas of DKI Jakarta will enjoy sunny weather on Thursday, August 14, after the last few days of rain with light to moderate intensity that has even triggered flooding at a number of points.

Central Jakarta, South Jakarta, East Jakarta and North Jakarta are predicted to be sunny in the morning. Meanwhile, West Jakarta is cloudy, and the Thousand Islands are still shrouded in thick clouds.

This condition is in contrast to the rainy weather that has occurred since the beginning of the week, including heavy rains yesterday which caused inundation and flooding in several areas such as Cipinang Melayu, Kramat Jati, and Rawajati in East Jakarta; Cengkareng in West Jakarta; as well as parts of the Pesanggrahan area in South Jakarta.

The DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) recorded at least 14 RTs affected by flooding with water levels between 30 80 cm.

Several residents were temporarily evacuated, and several access roads were closed due to inundation. BPBD said the main cause was high rainfall which triggered river overflows and clogged drainage channels.

Entering the afternoon until this afternoon, almost all areas of Jakarta are expected to be cloudy. The temperature ranges from 2331 degrees Celsius with a fairly comfortable humidity after the previous wet weather. The wind speed is in the range of 124 kilometers per hour, blowing from southeast to south.

Despite the sunny weather, BMKG appealed to residents to remain alert to the potential for local rain by night, especially in areas that were affected by flooding yesterday.
