Set 36 Airports With International Status, Minister Of Transportation Dudy Alludes To Prabowo's Instruction
Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi opened his voice regarding the determination of international status at 36 public airports through the Decree of the Minister of Transportation Number KM 37 of 2025.
Dudy said this decision was part of an effort to encourage the strengthening of the national aviation industry, encourage tourism, trade, and investment so that economic equality in various parts of Indonesia will be realized according to President Prabowo Subianto's Asta Cita.
President Prabowo instructed the opening of as many international airports as possible in various regions to encourage the acceleration of economic turnover and regional tourism. So that the determination of this international airport is a strategic step to encourage this," said Dudy in an official statement, Wednesday, August 13.
Dudy said, of the 36 public airports whose status increased to internationally, Halim Perdanakusuma Airport.
However, specifically for this airport, foreign flights are only intended for unscheduled commercial air transportation, non-commerce air transportation.
"As well as flights for Indonesian air rentals or foreign countries' aircraft," he said.
After determining the status, continued Dudy, the Director General of Civil Aviation then supervised the implementation of this Ministerial Decree.
The status of international airports will continue to be evaluated at least every two years.
There are a number of administrative requirements that must be met by each airport manager, including safety, security and service requirements as an international airport before international flight activities are carried out. The community must be delivered no later than six months after the Minister's decision is issued," he said.
