BKPM Ensures Apple's Investment In The US Does Not Affect Investment In Indonesia
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming / Investment Coordinating Agency (BKPM) ensures that investments made by Apple technology companies in the United States will not affect investment realization in Indonesia.
This stems from Apple, which has announced a massive investment plan worth US$600 billion or around Rp9,774 trillion in the United States.
Deputy for Investment Promotion at the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM Nurul Ichwan said, within 4 years, the target of business actors is to increase the competitiveness of products
"God willing, it will not be (involved)," said Nurul to the media crew at the BKPM Building, Wednesday, August 13.
He continued, this competitiveness includes product quality to price competition.
According to him, if Apple produces all its components in America, then the products produced cannot be sold outside the US.
On the other hand, there are limitations if Apple produces all its components in the United States because there are constraints on the production side in the US that are quite expensive when compared to Apple products made in China and Vietnam.
In my opinion, the logic is that it is impossible for Apple to take such a policy. Surely he will supply Apple with products made in China or Vietnam," he continued.
For this reason, he admits that he is confident that Apple's investment in the US will not affect investment plans in Indonesia.

Selama bertahun-tahun, wacana iPhone “Made in America” menjadi slogan politik yang sering digaungkan, terutama oleh pemerintahan Trump.

For your information, Apple recently raised its total investment commitment in the US from 500 billion to 600 billion US dollars in the next four years.
This investment is expected to create thousands of new jobs, especially in the field of component production and technical support, even though the final assembly of the iPhone remains overseas.
But President Donald Trump now publicly admits that a fully assembled iPhone in America is still a difficult dream to come true.
At a press conference, Trump actually highlighted Apple's contribution to the US economy through component production and job creation, instead of demanding that the final assembly of the iPhone be carried out domestically.
Over the years, the discourse of the iPhone 'Made in America' has become a often echoed political slogan, especially by the Trump administration.
But in reality, it's never really close to reality.
With this latest announcement, the government's focus seems to shift from idealistic dream to realistic achievement in the form of investment and job creation.
