Polresta Selidiki Pengusakan Kantor Koran Kaltara, Kombes Rofikoh: Sudah Olah TKP

TANJUNG SELOR - Bulungan City Resort Police (Polresta), North Kalimantan (Kaltara), dispatched a team of investigators to the Kaltara newspaper office (Korkal) area on Jalan Jelarai Raya, Tanjung Selor, Bulungan, Wednesday, August 13.

Kapolresta Bulungan, Kombes Rofiko Yunanto said the investigation team of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the Bulungan Police was dispatched to conduct an investigation and process the crime scene (TKP) for the destruction of Korkal's assets on Tuesday 12 August at 03.00 WITA in the morning.

"We have dispatched a team to conduct a crime scene investigation, this is a follow-up to the damage report reported by the Korkal," said Kombes Rofikoh.

"Such as the damage to printing and CCTV at the location has also been investigated or checked by our team, including fingerprints," added the Chief of Police.

He explained, from the CCTV footage located inside the Korkal office, it appears that two unknown people wearing helmets are outside the office.

"We also examined this CCTV footage as evidence to find out the two people. Currently, we are looking for supporting evidence to strengthen the destruction," explained the Police Chief.

Previously, the Director of the Kaltara Koran, Agus Wiyanto, explained that his party had made a vandalism report on Tuesday, August 12 and received a positive response from the police.

"As for the incident we reported, namely the destruction of the mass media printing equipment of the Kaltara Koran and CCTV that occurred at the Kaltara Koran Office," said Agus.

"We have also reported photos and perpetrators who are suspected of destroying a number of 2 people, including CCTV evidence and a damaged newspaper printing machine," he added.

Agus explained, from the initial examination carried out, management did not find any missing or stolen items by the perpetrators.

"Only vandalism but this has a fatal impact, because the printing machine was damaged, disrupting our media operations. The allegation could arise that this is a form of intimidation against the journalistic work of Kaltara Newspaper," he said.

However, his party does not want to speculate further and hopes that the Police can uncover cases that interfere with press freedom in Kaltara.

"We have not been able to conclude the exact motive, including whether this is related to pure reporting or crime, we fully leave it to the Police to reveal it, we are still waiting for the results of the crime scene investigation," he concluded.
