34 Pati Regent Protesters Resign Injured, Police Denies Death Toll Issues

JAKARTA - The police provided an explanation about information about the death toll in the action demanding the removal of Regent Pati Sudewo in front of the Pati Regency Government Office, Wednesday, August 13.

The Head of Public Relations of the Central Java Police, Kombes Pol. Artanto said that a number of hospitals and other health facilities had been searched.

"The result was that there were no reports of victims dying," he said in Pati, Wednesday, August 13, as reported by Antara.

However, he continued, 34 people were injured in the chaotic action.

"There are 34 people being treated at Soewondo Pati Hospital," he added.

According to him, the participants of the action, most of whom experienced shortness of breath, were due to inhaling water gas. The eyes have been allowed to go home.

Apart from the participants in the action, he continued, seven policemen were also reported injured in the action.

"There are about seven policemen, there may also be more," he said.

Previously, the actions of the residents of Pati Regency demanded that the resignation of the Regent Sudewo end in chaos.

Rumors circulated that two civilians died in a riot during the demonstration.
