Coordinating Minister Zulhas Asks Bulog To Accelerate Distribution Of SPHP Rice To The Market

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan requested that Perum Bulog immediately accelerate the distribution of Stability of Supply and Food Prices (SPHP) rice to the market.

Given, he said, the realization of the distribution of cheap rice is still minimal.

"We ask Bulog to accelerate market operations, which are SPHP. It has been decided that 1.3 million tons, indeed gradually (distributed), now 2,500 tons (per day). If 2,500 are still small until we wait for the gadu harvest," he said during a press conference at the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs Office, Jakarta, Wednesday, August 13.

The man who is familiarly called Zulhas said that the distribution of cheap rice needs to be accelerated because in September it will enter the gadu harvest. Usually, rice production decreases.

For your information, when rice production drops, prices in the market will increase. Therefore, government intervention is needed through the distribution of SPHP rice.

"Penen gadu itu bulan selanjut, ya. Nah, September ini, ini masih ada 3 minggu," ucapnya.

In addition, Zulhas also asked that the distribution of SPHP rice in the future not only rely on bazaars.

He wants the distribution to be carried out directly to market trading.

"If we enter it through a bazaar, it's very slow. Enter the market, because the instrumental market is used to rice trading. So the market must be a place for the distribution of the SPHP," he explained.

From the results of the review to several markets, continued Zulhas, the current SPHP rice has not yet entered the market.

Even so, Zulhas admitted that he needed preparation to be able to distribute SPHP rice directly to the market.

Zulhas also hopes that the distribution of cheap rice through the SPHP program can increase to 7,000 to 10,000 tons per day.

Please sir (Director) Bulog is fast, if possible 7,000-10,000 tons one day, so that one month can be 300,000 tons. That's only 10,000 is still lacking. So it's accelerated, especially for big provinces, Java, Sumatra, Sulawesi," said Zulhas.
