AHY Calls Controlling ODOL Vehicles Has No Bad Impact On The Indonesian Economy
JAKARTA - The Coordinating Ministry for Regional Infrastructure and Development (Kemenko IPK) has calculated the impact of controlling over-dimensional vehicles overloading alias ODOL. This step is believed to have no significant impact on the economy.
Coordinating Minister for GPA Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) said that his party continues to make various efforts in the context of implementing more loaded vehicle control policies. This includes taking into account the impact of the implementation of Zero ODOL.
"Of course we also calculate whether it is true that if it is brought under control there will be a negative impact on the economy. Well, we calculated and it turned out that there were good results," said AHY when opening the Progress Evaluation and Achievement Coordination Meeting for Strategic Issues for Infrastructure and Regional Development in 2025 at the Coordinating Ministry for IPK Office, Jakarta, Wednesday, August 13.
"Later it can be explained by the Minister of Transportation, of course we also hope to strengthen it with clear data. We have obtained a number of data that it does not have much effect significantly," he continued.
According to AHY, the view regarding the implementation of Zero ODOL will threaten the Indonesian economy as an effort to hinder the control of ODOL itself. In fact, efforts to control obese vehicles themselves have been carried out for a dozen years and have not produced results.
"So, this may just be an excuse so that we don't succeed in controlling ODOL, which has been happening for a dozen years," he said.
Furthermore, the step to control ODOL vehicles is very important. Given, the rise of accidents involving ODOL has claimed many lives.
In addition, tens of trillions of budgets must also be disbursed in order to repair damaged roads affected by the obese vehicle.
"If we allow ODOL to clearly fall, many are victims of traffic accidents. Not only truck drivers, but also innocent people. Tens of trillions must be spent every year to repair damaged roads and damaged by the ODOL vehicle," he said.

Previously, the Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi said that the implementation of the zero policy for obese trucks or Over Dimension and Over Load (ODOL) would withdraw from the initial target planned to start 2026.
Dudy said the opportunity for postponement was because there were still several aspects of preparation that had to be done to ensure the ODOL truck was effective.
"It's possible, yes, but I hope it won't take too long. Because if it reaches 2027 it will open up more opportunities for accidents," Dudy said in Jakarta, written Thursday, July 10.
He explained that the initial plan for the process was carried out in three stages, starting from socialization since June 2025. However, he still sees the evaluation of each stakeholder.
