Reaching 160 Million Users In Indonesia, TikTok Encourages Digital Economy Potential

JAKARTA TikTok announced its newest number of users in Indonesia. The popular platform in this vertical format managed to reach more than 160 million monthly active users.

This data was disclosed by the Head of Communication of TikTok Indonesia, Anggini Setiawan. Anggi said that this achievement was achieved last July. This improvement also shows that TikTok has succeeded in developing their ecosystem.

"Currently, there are more than 160 million monthly active users in Indonesia who come to TikTok. So, with more than 160 million active users this monthly, TikTok has grown into a creative ecosystem," Anggi said at the TikTok Press Conference on Wednesday, August 13.

In line with this increase, TikTok has succeeded in contributing to the digital economy in Indonesia. Of the tens of millions of TikTok creators in Indonesia, 8 million of them received income from the platform.

This shows the potential of TikTok in creating jobs and new sources of income for the community. In fact, Anggi stated that most creators receive greater income than the Regional Minimum Wage (UMR) set.

"63 percent of them (out of 8 million creators) earn more than our UMR. We are very happy because many creators have succeeded in utilizing the TikTok platform and building its economic welfare," said Anggi.

To encourage more creators to earn from the platform, TikTok has re-introducing TikTok One, a platform developed to help brands build their businesses.

With this platform, brands can connect with creators. They can create content strategies, manage content, and connect brands with creators and consumers.

Creators can also take advantage of this platform to work with brands. If they are selected by brands, they can create content according to the proposed deal. This content can later be reviewed before it is published.
