Mount Lewotobi Men Eruption Again, Residents Asked To Be Alert Radius 6 Km
LABUAN BAJO - Mount Lewotobi Male in East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), erupted again on Wednesday, August 13 at noon.
Based on information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) of the Geological Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), the eruption occurred at 14.05 WITA.
The height of the ash column is observed to be about 200 meters above the peak or about 1,784 meters above sea level. The ash column is white, gray, to brown with thin to moderate intensity, leaning southwest and west.
Eruption was recorded on a seismogram with a maximum amplitude of 44.4 mm and a duration of about one minute 42 seconds. Currently, the status of Mount Lewotobi Male is at Level III or Alert.
PVMBG urges the public and visitors not to carry out activities within a radius of six kilometers from the eruption center.
Residents are asked to remain calm, follow local government directions, and do not believe in issues with unclear sources.
The public is also reminded to be aware of the potential for rain lava flooding in rivers that originate at the top of the mountain, especially in Dulipali, Padang Pasir, Nobo, Nujulen, Klatanlo, Hokeng Jaya, Boru, and Nawakote villages.
