Sri Mulyani Said That The 2026 Social Protection Budget Will Be Bigger Than This Year
Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati said that the budget allocation for social protection in the 2026 State Budget would increase significantly compared to 2025.
Sri Mulyani explained that the details of the figures would be announced directly by President Prabowo Subianto in a state speech on August 15, 2025, before the DPR RI.
He revealed that this year the government has allocated a budget of Rp1,333 trillion, the benefits of which are directly felt by the community, especially low-income groups.
Sri Mulyani said, for next year, the budget will certainly increase substantially, with a main focus on the social protection sector.
"The central government budget which is directly enjoyed by the community, especially the lower group, has reached Rp1,333 trillion for this year. In two days, the President will convey for next year and the figure will be much larger, starting from social protection," he said at the 2025 Sharia National Economics and Finance Sarasehan event, Wednesday, August 13.
Sri Mulyani said that state spending directly had an impact on the community covering various important sectors, such as social protection, education, health services, infrastructure development, energy availability, agricultural support, and financing for MSMEs.
As for the education sector, the 2025 allocation will reach IDR 724.3 trillion or about 20 percent of the total APBN, which is used to finance various programs such as KIP Lectures for 1.1 million students, PIP for 20.4 million students, BOS for 9.1 million students, and PTN Operational Assistance (BOPTN) for 197 state universities.
In addition, the education budget also includes providing LPDP scholarships, strengthening learning digitization, professional allowances for non-civil servant teachers for 477.7 thousand teachers, certification for 666.9 thousand teachers, construction and rehabilitation of 22,000 schools, and the implementation of the Free Nutrition Food Program (MBG).
"President Prabowo conveyed that Asta Cita is the foundation for achieving the ideals of the Golden Indonesia, and the State Budget instrument is a very important means to achieve it," he added.
