5.12 Percent Economic Growth Is Doubtful, BKPM: That Makes Very Sense

JAKARTA - Deputy for Investment Promotion of the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM, Nurul Ichwan, gave a response regarding data on economic growth from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) which many doubt the truth.

According to Nurul, all programs made by the government aim to produce a benefit, one of which is economic growth.

Untuk itu, Nurul menyebut pertumbuhan ekonomi sebesar 5,12 persen sangat masuk mengingat sejumlah program yang dibuat pemerintah dan sudah mulai berjalan.'

"Regarding Indonesia's economic growth this semester which grew 5.12 percent, people thought it was 4. That's enough. For me, it makes a lot of sense," he told the media crew in Jakarta, Wednesday, August 13.

If explained macro, continued Nurul, the economic growth that occurs depends on how much money is disbursed in one economic activity. He gave an example of Prabowo's flagship program, Free Nutrition Food (MBG) which in its implementation requires a large budget and contributes to economic growth.

"That cannot be denied, that fact," explained Nurul.

For this reason, Nurul also supports Prabowo's decision to make the ministry/institutional budget efficiency so that it can be diverted to important programs that can boost economic growth.

"Imagine if the money is poured into the market, that's what the President has done. Beat all corruptors, don't give the program so that we can't corrupt, use the money, enter the market, and the economy grows. That's a fact, it can't be denied," he said.

Previously, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) revealed that economic growth in the second quarter of 2025 reached 5.12 percent year on year (yoy) when compared to the same quarter in the previous year of 5.02 percent.
