Protests In Pati Ricuh Square, Masses Throw Police With Mineral Water Bottles

JAKARTA - The demonstration that took place in Pati Square on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, began to heat up. Thousands of people who have been gathering since morning to convey aspirations related to government policies were observed experiencing tensions, on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, afternoon.

The Head of Pati Police, Kombes Jaka Wahyudi, went directly to meet the protesters. Their presence aims to reduce the potential for clashes and ensure that the path of conveying aspirations remains in the corridor of the law.

"We urge all participants of the action to remain calm, not to be easily provoked, and to remain focused on conveying their aspirations peacefully," said Kombes Jaka Wahyudi, in a statement received by VOI via text message, Wednesday, August 13, 2025.

The situation began to heat up when some participants threw mineral water bottles at the security forces. The authorities tried to control the situation by prioritizing persuasive steps, but tensions continued to rise.

"We understand the enthusiasm of our colleagues in expressing opinions, but we ask not to take actions that can harm ourselves or others," said the Chief of Police.

Allegations of group infiltration also began to emerge, after it was seen that several people provoked the crowd to act anarchically. The authorities immediately carried out strict monitoring and identification of those who tried to confuse the atmosphere.

"We ask the action participants not to be influenced by individuals who want to take advantage of this situation for certain purposes. Let's keep Pati safe," said Kombes Jaka Wahyudi.

Joint TNI-Polri officers were seen forming barricades at a number of strategic points around the Pati Square. However, the Police Chief ensured that security was carried out in a humane and proportional manner.

"We are not here to silence the voices of the people, but to ensure that the delivery of aspirations is safe and orderly," he added.

The police chief also reminded that the democratic process must be jointly guarded by all elements of society.

"Don't let the action that should have become a form of democracy turn into a riot that harms all parties," concluded Kombes Jaka Wahyudi.
