Coordinating Minister AHY For Consultation Meeting With DPD RI, Discuss Development In DIY And South Java

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) attended a coordination meeting related to infrastructure development in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) and Central Java with the DPD RI at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, August 13.

The coordination meeting was also attended by Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives GKR Hemas, and Governor of Yogyakarta Sultan Hamengkubuwono X.

In a meeting attended by regional heads and members of the DPD RI, AHY explained the 2025-2029 infrastructure development policy, especially in the DIY and South Central Java (Jasela) areas.

"By the way I rarely go to the DPD RI. So thank you mother (GKR Hemas), I was specially invited to meet face to face," AHY said at the beginning of his presentation.

AHY then revealed statistical data on economic growth in the southern part of Java (Jasela), where DIY became the area with the highest economic growth reaching 5.49 percent.

"Year on year 5.49 percent, is that right, Mr. Governor? 5.49 percent Indeed, the size is not bigger than the neighbors. But actually the economic growth is the highest," said AHY.

"Meanwhile, Central Java is 5.24 percent, this is the fourth largest. So I want to take a picture of this first so we can imagine what we can do to maintain what is already good and improve what is not good," added the Chairman of the Democratic Party.

AHY explained that the sector contributing to economic growth for both DIY and Central Java, based on the business field, 9.38 percent came from the construction sector for DIY.

"Ladies and gentlemen, the construction of one house involves 180 different types of industry, do you agree? What do we need? What do we need? Cement, sand, stone, iron bricks, roof tiles, nails, nails, lots of nails, so if we have enough budget to build infrastructure, starting from home and other infrastructure that is more complex, it will certainly move the economy, industry, MSMEs, it is definitely not wrong if in many infrastructure countries it is also a contributor to their economic growth," he explained.

"Well, while in Central Java, there is certainly an agricultural, forestry and fishery sector above this, this is also important for them, does this sector need your infrastructure? Yes, so of course it is relevant for us to discuss it together," he continued.

AHY said, DIY is the center of the educational area so that it has the second best human development index after DKI Jakarta.

"This means that there are many campuses, especially in Sleman, the most campuses. And then the education is also above average compared to other regions. So once again, this contributes, contributes to the human development index," he said.

AHY said, DIY also has very promising tourism potential. So it also requires adequate infrastructure support and connectivity.

"We've all been on vacation to DIY and also to Jasela. Who likes holidays in DIY? We've all been on vacation to DIY, and also to Jasela. Who likes holidays in DIY? Everyone? Favorite? Because there's a soul, what's wrong, it's different every time you come to DIY. So I think this needs to be developed," he said.

"And once again talking about tourism, talking about tourism requires infrastructure, requires connectivity. Never mind to attract foreign tourists. To mobilize, attracting tourists around DIY and Central Java also needs comfort for tourists. So we need to strengthen here," he concluded.
