Polestar 3 Electric SUV Breaks The World Record Of The Longest Travel Distance, Driver Tips Can Be Tried By EV Owners

Polestar 3 managed to set a new world record for the furthest distance it has ever reached by an electric SUV in a single charge. The car successfully covered 581.3 miles (about 935 km) on the UK highway, beating the previous record with a significant margin.

Referring to Autocar's report, Wednesday, August 13, the Polestar 3 Long Range model used in this record is equipped with a 107 kWh battery and a 295 bhp single motor on the back axis. The distance reached far exceeds the official figure of 438 miles (about 705 km) according to the WLTP standard. This record also solves previous achievements held by Ford Mustang Mach-E, which was only able to cover 569.64 miles (916 km).

This record is considered very relevant to consumers because it is carried out in actual daily driving conditions. According to Sam Clarke, one of the three drivers who took turns driving this car, trials were carried out on public roads, including highways, double roads, and B-road roads, by complying with normal speed limits.

"This is a record 'travel', which means we use public roads, must comply with normal speed limits, and we cannot cross the same road twice," Clarke said. The biggest challenge, he continued, was avoiding the road that had been passed while looking for a flat route to maximize efficiency.

The car used in this record is completely unmodified, even still using the Michelin Sport 4 EV standard tire. This shows that Polestar 3's extraordinary capabilities can be enjoyed by consumers without the need for special modifications.

Technically, Polestar 3 recorded an efficiency of 19.5 kWh per 100 miles (160 km) which was very impressive for an SUV weighing 2.4 tons. This figure is comparable to the efficiency of several small electric cars weighing only one third of Polestar 3.

Clarke emphasized that this achievement is clear evidence that electric vehicles are now truly capable of traveling long distances without significant obstacles. According to him, concerns about the distance spanning the automotive industry is now fading faster over the years.

He also shared simple tips for drivers to drive more efficiently.

"Simplely, pressing the gas pedal is slightly softer at all times. This simple method can make the car travel longer," he concluded.
