80 Years Old Become Victims Of The Land Mafia, Trial Continues At The West Jakarta District Court

JAKARTA The alleged land mafia case has resurfaced. Japar Ali Yugo, an elderly man in his 80s who has been guarding a plot of land in Tegal Alur, West Jakarta for decades, is now being sued and reported to the police.

The trial of this case was again held at the West Jakarta District Court with the agenda of submitting evidence from the plaintiff's side. One of the evidence submitted is the HGB certificate on an area of approximately 500 square meters.

H. Japar's attorney, Ferdinand Matheus Kilikily, assessed that this case was full of irregularities. According to him, the land belongs to PT Sarana Jaya, but the plaintiff actually claims ownership with AJB documents on behalf of other people.

"The lyrics are not at that location. This is Sarana Jaya's land, why suddenly someone else wants to take it?" said Ferdinand who is also the Chairman of the Jakarta KAI Advisory Board, Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

Ferdinand emphasized that his client had never claimed to own the land. Since 1990, Japar has only guarded the land with Sarana Jaya's permission, and the official owner even thanked him. However, suddenly there were parties who claimed land with doubtful documents.

"Whoever is behind this, we will not back down. This is a state of law, and we will continue to defend Pak Haji Japar against the land mafia," he said.

Another lawyer, Tuti Susilawati, also regretted the steps taken by the West Jakarta Metro Police to stop investigating the Japar report through SP2Lid on May 20, 2025. Meanwhile, the opponent's report against Japar continues.

"This is strange. Our client's report was terminated on the grounds that there was no criminal element, but the opponent's report continued. Even though his good name has been tarnished due to being sued," said Tuti.

Until now, the police are still processing the report and even calling the local RT device for questioning.

Japar was reported under Article 167 of the Criminal Code regarding entering someone else's yard without permission and Article 385 of the Criminal Code regarding land grabbing.

In fact, according to an official letter from PT Sarana Jaya, the land belongs to them, and the presence of Japar at the location has never been a problem.

This case is in the spotlight because it shows how an elderly person who has been guarding the land for decades is actually entangled in legal problems due to alleged land mafia practices.
