A Number Of Areas In West Jakarta Are Still Submerged In Water Due To Heavy Rain
JAKARTA - A number of points in the West Jakarta (Jakbar) area are still flooded until Tuesday night due to heavy rains. The flood was monitored through a number of viral videos uploaded on social media.
These points include in Palapa, Rawa Buaya Cengkareng, Jalan Bojong Raya, Cengkareng, then Swadarma Utara 4 Ulujami, Pesanggrahan, then around the flow of the Gebyuran River, Joglo, Kembangan.
In the description of the viral videos, flooding in a number of areas in West Jakarta occurred due to overflowing times due to heavy rains.
Previously, the West Jakarta Water Resources Sub-dept. (SDA Sub-Department) optimized the use of pumps to deal with flooding.
Head of the West Jakarta SDA Sub-dept., Purwanti Suryandari, said that his party had operated 152 stationary pump units in 48 pump houses, 70 mobile pump units, and 60 floating pump units since Sunday (6/7) afternoon.
"Yesterday, heavy rains were evenly distributed throughout Jakarta. That's why we are on standby for pump operations. We will distribute them at flood points in the West Jakarta area," Purwanti said when contacted by ANTARA in Jakarta, Monday.
According to Purwanti, the location of the West Jakarta area closer to North Jakarta has caused further flood management to be carried out.

"The size of the area also affects, the inundation in West Jakarta is also sent from other areas. West Jakarta is a bit north, so from the south it has receded, all of them fled to the west," said Purwanti.
In addition, he said, the high upstream water level has caused a number of times in West Jakarta to be at standby one for hours, so handling takes quite a long time.
"It's also high upstream. Angke is on standby 1, how many hours is the Angke River. Then also Cengkareng Draine is also on standby 1. Add a high tide, right," said Purwanti.
Purwanti emphasized that hundreds of pumps are ready to operate to anticipate aftershocks in the West Jakarta area.
"If our pumps are scattered throughout the West Jakarta area, yes and ready to operate," said Purwanti.
