QRIS Transactions In Jakarta Are Almost 50 Percent In Indonesia, Rano Karno: This Year It Could Be 75 Percent

JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia noted that QRIS transactions in Jakarta contributed almost 50 percent of the total national scale QRIS transactions. Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno believes the percentage could increase by the end of this year.

This was revealed by Rano at the Opening Ceremony of the 2025 Jakarta National QRIS Week (PQN) at the Martha Christina Tiahahu Literacy Park, South Jakarta.

"I'm sure it could be 75 percent this year. So that later in 2027 it can be more effective, even more maximal," said Rano, Tuesday, August 12.

Rano said the target of increasing the number of QRIS transactions in Jakarta could increase because the DKI Provincial Government is currently starting to intensify market digitization.

Where, people are invited to shop with digital payments through existing platforms.

"The governor pursues, educates the public with digitalization in the market. Imagine, it's not designed yet, it's 50 percent. Especially if it's designed?" he said.

Previously, Deputy Head of Bank Indonesia DKI Jakarta Representative Yosamartha revealed that the Quick Response Code Indonesia Standard transaction in Jakarta contributed almost half of the total QRIS transactions in Indonesia.

"It turns out that QRIS transactions in Jakarta are almost 50 percent national. Jakarta alone, around 43-45 percent. So, if people say how great QRIS is, yes Jakarta, because we donated almost half of Indonesia," said Yosamartha.

The high value of QRIS Jakarta transactions is also in line with Jakarta's highest digital competitiveness index on a national scale.

"Jakarta is a game changer. Almost all of these digitalization initiatives were born in Jakarta," he said.

This, according to Yosamartha, shows that Jakarta is the center for digitalization initiation in the creative industry, education, health, and other priority sectors.
