East Java Police Send Jatanras Team Hunt For Perpetrators Of Motorcycle Robbery Of KKN Students In Lumajang

East Java Police dispatched personnel from Sub-Directorate III of Jatanras, Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) to assist the Lumajang Police in hunting down perpetrators of motor vehicle theft that befell students participating in Real Work Lectures (KKN) in local districts.

"The team has moved to track down the whereabouts of the perpetrators. This personnel assistance is to support the performance of the Lumajang Police Satreskrim," said Head of Public Relations of the East Java Police Kombes Jules Abraham Abast in Surabaya, Tuesday, August 12.

He explained that this step is proof of the seriousness of the East Java Regional Police in eradicating street crimes, especially the theft case in Lumajang, which has been rampant in the past week and has attracted public attention.

One of them happened to two KKN participants in Alun-Alun Village, Ranuyoso District. The motorbike parked at the village office was lost after the perpetrator entered the office building.

"The team in the field works day and night. We will do our best to eradicate this street crime," he said.

Previously, the East Java Regional Police's Ditreskrimum arrested 12 members of the theft gang from Malang, Pasuruan, Lumajang, and Probolinggo on August 1, 2025. However, the provisional suspicion is that the perpetrators in Lumajang currently come from other groups.

The Lumajang Police formed a special team (timsus) to uncover the theft case that befell KKN students, which resulted in the withdrawal of 1,328 students from eight universities before the program was completed.

The theft of motorized vehicles occurred twice in three days, in two different locations, namely the Alun-Alun Village Office, Ranuyoso District, and the house of the Head of Central Tempeh Village, Tempeh District.

From this incident, four motorbikes were missing, three of which belonged to students from the University of Jember and one belonging to Islamic University student KH Achmad Shidiq (UIN KHAS) Jember.
