Former Acting Mayor Of Pekanbaru Demanded 6 Years In Prison Plus Replacement Money Of IDR 3.8 Billion

PekanBARU - The Public Prosecutor of the Corruption Eradication Commission has demanded that the former Acting (Pj) Mayor of Pekanbaru, Riau, Risnandar Mahawa, be sentenced to six years in prison and a fine of Rp. 300 million, subsidiary to four months in prison, as well as compensation of Rp. 3.8 billion.

Risnandar was charged with allegedly cutting the money and additional money (TU) budget as well as illegal levies against a number of regional apparatus organizations (OPD) within the Pekanbaru City Government amounting to Rp8.9 billion.

"Declaring that the defendant Risnandar Mahiva has been legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing a criminal act of corruption as the second indictment," said Public Prosecutor Meyer Volmer Simanjuntak while reading out the charges at the Pekanbaru District Court, Tuesday, August 12, as reported by ANTARA.

The prosecutor demanded additional punishment for Risnandar in the form of payment of replacement money of Rp3.8 billion which must be paid no later than one month after the court's decision has permanent legal force. If not paid, his property will be confiscated by the prosecutor and auctioned off to cover state losses.

Apart from Risnandar, the defendant Novin Karmila, who was then the Acting Head of the General Section of the Pekanbaru Regional Secretariat, was sentenced to five years and six months in prison and a fine of Rp. 300 million, subsidiary to four months in prison, and compensation of Rp. 2.3 billion.

Meanwhile, the former Pekanbaru Regional Secretary, Indra Pomi Nasution, was sentenced to six years and six months in prison and a fine of Rp. 300 million, subsidiary to four months in prison.

"Imposing additional penalties against the defendant Indra Pomi to pay compensation of Rp3.1 billion," said the Public Prosecutor in a case that began with the KPK's arrest operation in December 2024.
