Tom Lembong Explains Reasons For Complaining To The Supreme Court Until The Ombudsman After Being Free From Prison

JAKARTA - Former Minister of Trade (Mendag) Thomas Trikasih Lembong alias Tom Lembong said his decision to complain to judges and auditors because he felt he had a moral responsibility to improve the legal system in Indonesia.

Tom Lembong complained to the Supreme Court, Constitutional Court, and the Ombudsman regarding allegations of unprofessionalism and ethical violations committed by several parties in the series of corruption cases of sugar imports involving him.

"As a responsible citizen, yes, as a person who is given or entrusted with hope by many parties. Yes, I feel that I have a moral responsibility, it is the responsibility of citizenship to follow up," Tom Lembong told reporters, Tuesday, August 12.

In fact, Tom Lembong wants to immediately move on or get out of the vortex of the case. However, the law system, which is considered unfavorable, has the potential to endanger the community.

"Personally, I personally want to move on as quickly as possible. I really don't want to continue in this case," he said.

"If we save us very openly, openly, behavior that is unethical and has the potential to endanger other residents," continued Tom Lembong.

Moreover, the special case involving him is thick with political elements. This quoted the statement by the Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi when explaining the reason the President gave an abolition to him.

Therefore, it is hoped that the steps taken by him are south with President Prabowo Subianto whose goal is to improve the legal system in Indonesia.

"I also hope that our steps are in line with the political direction of the President, which I see leads to reconciliation, reconciliation," he said.

In addition, it is hoped that there will be no more legal processes based on political elements. That way, justice will be felt by all Indonesian people.

"A case that should be carried out professionally. Professionally according to the procedure, according to the law, yes, it is not according to political calculations or political motivation," said Tom Lembong.
