Liquor Athlete Harrison Gets Student Athlete Scholarship In US

JAKARTA The talented young Indonesian swimmer, Liquor Harrison Andoko, received a study athlete scholarship to continue his sports education and career at the University of Indianapolis, United States (US).

The Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC Indonesia) in an official statement on Tuesday, August 11, 2025, confirmed that Liquor received a scholarship through the NCAA (National Collagiate Athletic Association) route.

Chairman of NOC Indonesia, Raja Sapta Oktohari, said that Liquor's achievement was an example of the success of a generation of young athletes who were able to balance academic and sporting achievements.

"Hopefully, of course, he must be able to take advantage of this opportunity as best he can and be able to fight to make history in Indonesia's swimming at the Olympics with a target of qualifying for Los Angeles 2028 Limit A," said Okto, Raja Sapta Oktohari's nickname.

Liquor will study mechanical engineering as well as strengthen the University of Indianapolis swimming team in various inter-university tournaments in the United States.

He ensured that his focus on sports was not reduced even though he had to continue his education. He emphasized that this move actually gave him a great opportunity to develop.

"I want to represent Indonesia at the Olympics through official qualifying channels. I want to know the extent of my ability to compete with the best in the world and bring Indonesia on the podium," he said.

Liquor followed in the footsteps of several of his seniors who had already received NCAA scholarships, such as Lukman Niode, Wisnu Wardhana, and Richard Sam Bera.

In addition, Liquor will also join several competing student athletes and current studies at the NCAA, namely Karel Subagyo (Oakland University) and Elysha Pribadi (Rutgers University).
