JITEX 2025 Expected To Remove The "Rojali-Rohana" Phenomenon

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will hold a Jakarta International Investment, Trade, Tourism & SMEs Expo (JITEX) 2025. on September 17, 2025 at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Central Jakarta.

This event is a collaboration between the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) together with the Asian Trade, Tourism and Economics Council (ATTEC), as well as the Indonesian Shopping Center Retailers and Renters Association (HIPPINDO).

Chairman of HIPPINDO Budiharjo Iduansjah views that the exhibition of MSME products, business matching, culinary, and entertainment needs to be held to reduce the phenomenon of "rojali" and "rohana" which now haunts shopping centers.

Rojali merupakan akronis dari "rombongan jarang beli", sementara rohana berasal dari "rombongan hanya mintanya". Mereka disebut hanya berkiling di tempat perbelanjaan tanpa membeli apapun.

"We want to fight Rojali. Rojali doesn't exist. If there is an interesting event, people will definitely come to Jakarta, not only for a walk, but also for shopping," Budiharjo said in the soft launching of JITEX 2025 at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Tuesday, August 12.

JITEX activity, Budiharjo, is also expected to attract foreign tourists to come and shop in Jakarta, to become a magnet for investors to do business in Indonesia.

"Our hope is that after I make the expo, I will go down to the shopping center so that it will become a 'robina' language, only shopping groups in Indonesia," said Budiharjo.

Meanwhile, Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Rano Karno, said that JITEX 2025 is a momentum to strengthen cross-sectoral collaboration to build an inclusive and sustainable Jakarta economy.

"As a global city, Jakarta continues to transform into a modern, inclusive, and sustainable center of trade, tourism and investment. The implementation of JITEX is a tangible form of this strategy, in which Jakarta positions itself as a storefront of the creative economy, a center of trade promotion, and a bridge of collaboration between the business world, investors, and international partners," said Deputy Governor Rano.

In 2024, JITEX recorded transactions of IDR 12.9 trillion with the presence of 20,381 visitors and 335 national and international buyers. Meanwhile, in 2025, the number of exhibitors will increase to more than 400 exhibitions with a projected transaction potential of IDR 14 trillion.

"This achievement shows the great potential of Jakarta as the host of global trade events and promotions. Hopefully this activity will increase Jakarta's economic potential," he added.
