Kimberly Ryder's Dream of Acting with Christine Hakim Comes True in Sukma Movie

JAKARTA - Actress Kimberly Ryder revealed the compelling reasons behind her decision to star in the latest film, "Sukma," directed by Baim Wong.

Besides the captivating script, one name was the deciding factor and made her join without hesitation: legendary actress Christine Hakim.

Initially, Kimberly admitted to being drawn to the project because of its compelling storyline, which allowed her to complete the script in a short time, a rare occurrence for her.

"Why I chose to be in this film, Sukma, was because when I was given the script, I usually take a long time to read scripts. When scripts are sent, it's usually like once a week," said Kimberly Ryder in Central Jakarta on Monday, August 11.

"And this time, it took me less than two days to finish. That's how interesting the storyline was. Even though the storyline ultimately changed 70%," she continued.

However, the script's appeal was further enhanced by the presence of a maestro in the cast. Upon learning that Christine Hakim was involved, Kimberly immediately made her decision.

"And then, aside from that, at the beginning, I was like, 'Who are the actors?' and then Mrs. Christine Hakim came up, and it was like, 'Oh, okay. Okay. Say no more. I want to,'" explained Kimberly Ryder.

Working with Christine Hakim turned out to be one of her long-held professional dreams.

"Oh yeah, absolutely. It was one of my wish lists to work with, like, on my list of people I had to work with, acting here," said Kimberly Ryder.

After finally acting alongside her idol, Kimberly was surprised by Christine Hakim's warm and motherly personality off-screen, a stark contrast from the strong characters she often portrays.

"I was really surprised by Mrs. Christine. She's super friendly, motherly, and she embraces everything. It's really different from the characters she sometimes portrays in films," she concluded.

The film Sukma tells the story of Arini (Luna Maya). Arini and her family's move to a small town to start a new life turns into a disaster after they discover an ancient mirror in a secret room.

A series of strange occurrences occur. Unexpected voices and apparitions make Arini anxious for her and her family's safety. This is further compounded by the appearance of the mysterious figure of Ibu Sri (Christine Hakim).

Time continues to tick, and Arini must uncover the mirror's past and mystery—before it's too late and she loses everything.

In addition to Kimberly Ryder, the film, which will be released on September 11th, also stars Luna Maya, Oka Antara, and Fedi Nuril.
