Realization Of Coal DMO To PLN Reaches 104.6 Million Tons

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) reported that the realization of Indonesian coal production during the first semester of 2025 reached 357.60 million tons or 48.34 percent of the 2025 production target.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia said, until the end of 2025, his ministry is targeting coal production of 739.67 million tons.

"Well, of the 739.67 million tons, now those who have just produced have 357.6 million tons," he said at the 2025 Semester I Performance Achievement Press Conference, Monday, August 11.

Bahlil detailed that from this realization, as much as 104.6 million tons were distributed to PLN through the obligation to fulfill the domestic market obligation (DMO). This coal will then be used for steam power plants.

Then as many as 15 million tons were recorded as domestic coal stocks and the remaining 238.0 million tons were exported abroad.

Bahlil also said that currently Indonesia's coal is expected to decrease in price by 25 to 30 percent. The former Chairperson of Hipmi said that this price decline was due to inequality between demand and supply. Excessive production, he continued, was due to the issuance of a Work Plan and Expenditure Budget (RKAB) for a span of 3 years.

"In the future, with what the DPR has asked us to revise the RKAB, we will do this indiscriminately, in order to maintain stability," said Bahlil.
