Installed Power Plant Capacity Reaches 105 GW in the First Semester
JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia reported that by the first semester of 2025, the total installed capacity of power plants was recorded at 105.0, an increase of 4.4 GW from 100.6 GW in 2024.
Bahlil stated that the installed capacity of power plants has continued to increase year after year.
Since 2021, installed capacity has been recorded at 74.5 GW, while in 2022 it was recorded at 83.8 GW. In 2023, installed capacity reached 91.2 GW.
"This means that 4.4 GW of installed capacity has been installed during this semester. This is the construction of power plants that are currently under construction. This is an increase compared to 2024," Bahlil said at a press conference in Jakarta on Monday, August 11.
Meanwhile, the installed capacity of New and Renewable Energy (NRE) power plants as of the first semester was 876.5 MW, a 15 percent increase compared to the total 761.9 MW of NRE capacity added in 2024.
The total installed NRE capacity in the first semester was equivalent to 14.5 percent of the total national power generation.
According to Bahlil, this total NRE capacity comes from NRE power plants that have reached their Commercial Operation Date (COD) in the first semester of 2025.
