President Macron Proposes UN Mission To Stabilize Gaza Strip
French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday submitted a proposal to deploy an international coalition under the UN mandate to stabilize the Gaza Strip.
President Macron denounced Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's plan to step up Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip, following the country's security cabinet's approval to take control of Gaza City.
President Macron said the UN mission would be tasked with securing the Gaza Strip, protecting civilians, and working to support the unnamed Palestinian government. President Macron said the UN Security Council should work to establish the mission.
"I have asked my team to work on it with our partners immediately," President Macron said.
By proposing a mission mandated by the United Nations in Gaza, President Macron sought to build momentum created by his recognition of the Palestinian State last month, prompting a series of recognitions from a number of countries, including Britain and Canada.
Separately, Indonesia itself has conveyed its readiness to support the UN peace mission in Palestine.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Arrmanatha Nasir, at the United Nations Summit on the implementation of a two-state solution at the New York United Nations Headquarters last month expressed the Presidential Government's commitment to send troops on UN peace missions.
At the summit, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Tata led the Indonesian delegation who became the head of the joint working group with Italy on security issues. The Working Group recommends four things that according to him are in line with Indonesia's diplomatic policy priorities.
"The various recommendations submitted by the Security Working Group are in line with Indonesia's diplomatic priorities, especially in following up on President Prabowo Subianto's commitments, by ensuring guarantees of international security and support for sending Indonesian troops on UN peace missions in Palestine," he explained.

Last week, the Head of the Presidential Communication Office (PCO) Hasan Nasbi again conveyed Indonesia's readiness to send peacekeepers to Gaza, as stated by President Prabowo.
"The president said that Indonesia is ready to send peacekeepers or 'peacekeepers' to Gaza to maintain peace. Just like what we did in Lebanon," he said at the time.
