Polish PM Uploads Trump's Promise To Involve Europe Before Negotiating With Putin To End Ukraine's War
JAKARTA - Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk admits his mixed feelings between fear and hope ahead of US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin's meeting discussed the war in Ukraine this week.
Tusk repeated Washington's pledge to consult with its European partners before the negotiations.
Trump will meet Putin in Alaska on Friday, August 15. Ukraine fears the two leaders may try to dictate the requirements to end the 3.5-year war.
"The American side has promised to consult with European partners about its position before the meeting in Alaska," Donald Tusk told a news conference.
"I will wait for the impact of the meeting between President Trump and Putin. I have a lot of worries and a lot of hope," he continued.
He said Trump's recent statements about the war in Ukraine could give the impression that the US president is increasingly understanding Ukraine and Europe's arguments regarding the conflict, but Tusk is not 100% sure this position will last long.

Leaders of France, Italy, Germany, Poland, Britain, Finland and the European Commission on Saturday welcomed Trump's efforts to end the war, but stressed the need to pressure Russia and provide security guarantees for Kyiv.
Tusk said a joint statement by European leaders showed they were united in their approach to Ukraine's peace negotiations, adding that Kyiv should be involved in each of these discussions.
"For Poland and our partners, it is clear that the state limits cannot be changed by force," he said.
"The Russian war with Ukraine should not benefit the aggressor," he continued.
