Receiving A Visit From The President Of Peru At The DPR Building, Puan: The New Round Of Indonesian-Peru Productive Relations
JAKARTA - DPR Speaker Puan Maharani received a state visit from the President of the Republic of Peru, Dina Ercilia Bouarte Zegarra at the DPR building. This meeting was held to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Peru.
The President of Peru and his entourage arrived at the DPR building, Jakarta, Monday, August 11, at around 15.00 WIB.
Puan welcomed President Zegarra accompanied by Chairman of Commission I of the DPR Utut Adianto, Deputy Chairman of Commission IV of the DPR Alex Indra Lukman, Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the DPR Dede Indra Permana Soediro, and Member of Commission III of the DPR Gilang Dhielafararez.
The presence of President Peru to the DPR is still in a series of state visits to Indonesia where, Dina Ercilia Bouarte Zegarra also met with President Prabowo Subianto. This is the second time Indonesia and Peru have met after last year Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto made a visit to the country.
In her speech, Puan assessed that the meeting of these two countries reflected a joint determination to further strengthen relations between the two nations.
"I see the visit of the President's mother to the Indonesian House of Representatives, as representatives of the Indonesian people, as a reflection of the Peruvian government to build relations with the Indonesian people," said Puan.
"I am optimistic that in the future we will open a new chapter of more productive and mutually beneficial relations for Indonesia and Peru," he continued.
Puan said that the increase in cooperation between Indonesia and Peru is becoming increasingly relevant, when the world faces various uncertainties and challenges related to peace and prosperity.
According to him, Indonesia must build a coalition with countries that prioritize multilateralism, international cooperation, and reject unilateral action.
"A joint coalition like this is not limited to countries whose geographical locations are close together, but are preferentially determined by the same interests, even though they are far apart, such as Indonesia and Peru," said Puan.
During the meeting, Puan also congratulated President Dina Ercilia Bouarte Zegarra for the awarding of Bintang Republi Indonesia Adipurna, for his contributions and commitments to strengthening relations between the two countries.
As is known, Peru is an important partner of Indonesia in Latin America since 1975. The RI-Peru bilateral cooperation continues to develop, not only in the political and economic fields, but also develops more widely by involving the people of the two countries.
In particular, said Puan, the visit of the President of Peru to the DPR opens a new dimension of relations between the two countries, where relations are not only between governments, but also involve people's representatives. He hopes that his meeting with the President of Peru can encourage women's participation in politics, both in the government and parliament.
"As fellow female leaders, I hope that we can continue to work together to encourage women's empowerment in our respective countries," said Puan.
"We can be an example for women and the younger generation that women can become state leaders," added Puan
