2025 Suhandinata Cup Draw: Housing Group C, Easy Indonesian Road

JAKARTA The International Badminton Federation (BWF) officially released the 2025 World Junior Team Championships (WJTC) group stage draw. Indonesia's chances of qualifying from the group stage were also very large.

The championship, which is competing for the Suhandinata Cup, will be held on October 6-10, 2025 in Guwahati, India. The draw for the tournament group stage was held on Friday, August 8, 2025.

Based on the draw results, Indonesia, which has the status of defending champion in this tournament, is included in Group C. In the same group there are Turkey, Romania and the Netherlands, which on paper should not be difficult opponents.

The draw is clearly very profitable for Indonesia, which is the third seed. In terms of achievement and ranking, the Red and White Team excels everything over the opponents in Group C.

Thailand's top seeds, occupy Group A with Denmark, Slovenia, and the Cook Islands. Then in second seed India in Group H with Hong Kong, Nepal, and Ghana.

Fierce competitions will take place in Group E inhabited by Chinese and Japanese giants. Both countries will compete against Brazil, Singapore, and Bhutan.

This year's BWF World Junior Team Championships will use an relay point system of up to a total of 110. The point system was first used in the 2024 edition which took place in Nanchang, China.

However, the system has been updated in a best-of-three-set format of up to 45 points in this year's mixed team tournament. So, there will be as many as five matches in each set.

This applies in all numbers, men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles. This new system is believed to be making the game even tighter because each point has a crucial value for the final result.

After the group stage, the team will be paired with other teams that have similar ratings from different groups to undergo the knockout system round until all the final position placements are determined.

In addition, in individual numbers, BWF will also pilot a 3 X 15 assessment system as part of a wider testing and analysis program. Both systems were approved in April 2025 by the BWF Council at the Annual General Meeting in Xiamen, China.
