Not Forced, Erin Taulany's Party Affirms Children's Presence At The Trial At Their Own Request

JAKARTA - Rien Wartia Trigina's (Erin) attorney, Firmanto Laksana Pangaribuan, provided clarification regarding the polemic of the child's presence in the trial for his client's divorce from Andre Taulany.

He emphasized that the presence of the child in court was not based on coercion, but at the request of the child himself, and legally this was allowed.

Firmanto straightened out the information circulating that children should not be present in the trial process for their parents' divorce.

"And we, in this case, are only providing information that some time ago it was conveyed that more or less yes, children should not attend and so on," said Firmanto Laksana Pangaribuan, Erin Taulany's attorney at the Tigaraksa Religious Court, Monday, August 11.

He explained that the applicable law actually provides space for children to be involved in the process, especially if they are already entering a certain age.

"So the law allows yes, allows children to attend," he continued.

"In fact, it is more specific that children over the age of 12 can choose him with his father or mother, right," explained Firmanto.

Furthermore, Firmanto emphasized that the initiative to come to court was purely from the child, not because it was presented by his side. The child's desire to be involved is the main reason for his presence at trial.

"And it is also related to other things, that since yesterday we did not present their children, but their children did ask us," said Firmanto Laksana Pangaribuan.

Previously, Andre Taulany openly refused to involve his children as witnesses in the trial, although he hinted that his wife, who wanted it.

Andre clearly expressed his refusal to bring children into the vortex of their domestic problems in court.

"No, my children refuse (to be witnesses). They cannot participate in this issue (dividing trial)," said Andre Taulany as quoted by VOI from the Cumicumi YouTube Instagram, Monday, August 4.

He reiterated that his children would not be witnesses in this case.

"No, it doesn't (the children are witnesses)," explained Andre Taulany.

Furthermore, Andre revealed that the idea to bring children as witnesses came from the opposite side. For him, involving children in this process is something that should not be done.

"It's not allowed, the children are brought. The side ( Erin Taulany's side brought)," said Andre.
