Playing New Films, Eva Celia Highlights How Patriarchy Also Harms Men
JAKARTA - Actress Eva Celia revealed that her role in the film If Mother Doesn't Marry Her Father has given her a deeper point of view on gender dynamics, particularly about how patriarchal systems not only harm women, but also place a heavy burden on men.
This experience, coupled with her background raised by a single mother, sparked deep reflection for Eva.
When asked if her role changed her perspective on men, Eva gave a wise answer.
"Actually, yes and no (the point of view of men changes after playing this film). Because maybe I was also raised by a single parent," said Eva Celia in the South Jakarta area, Monday, August 11.
This background helps him to understand the essence of the characters he plays more easily.
"So in a way I can attract what the essence is, what kind of Anis character and being raised by a single mom is like," he continued.
However, the biggest lesson he learned actually exceeded character understanding. This film opens its eyes to the negative impact of patriarchy which is often only seen from the side of women.
"And actually from this film I actually learned that, I said this many times during our film promo that patriarchy is not only detrimental to women, but also very detrimental to men," explained Eva Celia.
He then explained how the social demands burdened the adam and ultimately created an imbalance in the family.

"How men are always required to be strong and, and, eh, their role is the backbone of the economy, and not be emotionally involved, for example, emotional absence and how it creates an unbalanced family pattern," he continued.
This new insight prompted Eva to open up important discussions with those around her about the future of an ideal family.
"That's precisely what I really study and, and so, finally I have like these import conversations with friends, with family," said Eva.
In the end, he now has a dream about how a family unit should be built, which is on a healthier and more loving foundation.
"How will we do it later if, for example, we want to imagine and realize a more balanced family pattern, one that is healthier, one that is more loving," he concluded.
The film If Mother Doesn't Marry Her Father will start airing on September 4 featuring Amanda Rawles, Nayla Purnama, Bucek to Sha Ine Febriyanti.
