KPK Duga Officials Of The Ministry Of Religion And Travel Agent Untung From The Distribution Of Hajj Quota

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) suspects that officials at the Ministry of Religion and travel agent companies or travel agents will benefit from the unequal distribution of the 2023-2024 hajj quota.

Thus, they use Article 2 and Article 3 of the Anti-Corruption Law related to state losses in the generalized investigation warrant (sprindik) issued. This was conveyed by the acting (Plt) Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK Asep Guntur Rahayu when conveying the alleged corruption investigation from the investigation.

"Who will benefit from this, yes, with this article, the one who benefited was earlier, benefiting himself, other people or a corporation," Asep said, starting his explanation quoted from the Indonesian KPK YouTube, Monday, August 11.

"Here, they are people who receive a flow of funds. The flow of funds is in context because of the distribution of quotas, for example from the government, government officials or the Ministry of Religion who because of their decision to provide this hajj quota is not in accordance with the rules and then get some money," he continued.

Asep said investigators would later pursue any party in the Ministry of Religion who must be held accountable. Moreover, the distribution of this quota is not in accordance with the law.

In addition, the KPK will also target travel companies that should not get quotas. The additional quota obtained by Indonesia from Saudi Arabia in 2024 will reach 20,000 pilgrims.

However, it turned out that the distribution was then problematic because it was not in accordance with the law because it was divided into two for special and regular Hajj.

"If we refer to the existing laws, there are only 1,600, meaning that 8,400 are illegal. This means that it cannot be used as a special quota," explained Asep, who also serves as Director of KPK Investigations.

"Well, that's where the distribution is, to any travel, or any travel association," he said.

Previously reported, the KPK issued a general investigation warrant (sprindik) for alleged corruption in quotas and the implementation of Hajj. No suspects have yet been named.

The general Sprindik uses Article 2 Paragraph 1 and/or Article 3 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2021 in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code. This means that there are state losses that occur due to this rasuah practice.

For information, this case has also been reported by a number of community groups. Then in the investigation process, a number of parties have been questioned including former Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas.

Yaqut came to the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta on Thursday, August 7. He admitted that he had explained the issue of distributing the hajj quota to investigators from the anti-corruption commission at that time.
