Katulampa Dam Has Normal Status Even Though Bogor Has Heavy Rain For 2 Days

The Katulampa Dam in Bogor City, West Java was recorded as normal, although the Bogor City and Regency were hit by heavy rain for two consecutive days on Saturday and Sunday afternoon until evening.

Katulampa Dam Implementer Andi Sudirman said the water level (TMA) of the Ciliwung River on Saturday at around 19.00 WIB was at 20 centimeters with normal status.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, at 20.00 WIB, TMA was also 20 centimeters so that it did not trigger a flood warning in Jakarta.

"The intensity of rain is indeed high in several areas, but the water discharge in Katulampa Dam is still monitored to be safe and under control," he said in Bogor, Antara, Sunday, August 10.

Officer data show the TMA of the Kalibaru intake gate or Katulampa Main Channel is stable, at 40 centimeters respectively on Saturday (9/8) and Sunday, while the rainfall at the location of the dam was recorded at zero during the morning and afternoon measurement period.

Although the condition of the dam was observed to be safe, he appealed, the people on the banks of the Ciliwung River remained vigilant considering that heavy rains had triggered a number of disasters in Bogor, such as floods at several points and landslides in a number of sub-districts.

His party continues to carry out intensive monitoring of the development of the situation and coordinate with BPBD, BMKG, and related agencies to anticipate the potential increase in the water discharge of the Ciliwung River.

"We are on standby 24 hours and ready to provide real-time reports (when) if there is a significant change," he said.

The Bogor Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) handled a number of natural disasters due to heavy rains that hit a number of areas on Saturday (9/8), including floods, landslides, and strong winds with a total of more than 2,000 people affected.
