BGN Targets 60,000 Students In Greater OKU To Receive Free Nutrition Food
PALEMBANG The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) targets 60,000 students in Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU), South OKU, and East OKU or OKU Raya Regencies, South Sumatra, to receive the benefits of the Free Nutrition Eating Program (MBG).
"The MBG program will provide benefits for 60,000 students at OKU Raya. This is part of a joint effort to create a healthy, strong, and intelligent generation through the provision of MBG for school-age children," said Associate Analysis Staff for Promotion and Cooperation of BGN Alwin Supriyadi, in Palembang, Antara, Sunday, August 10.
After socializing MBG in Madang Tribe III District, East OKU, Alwin explained that apart from students, this program also targets the elderly and pregnant women.
"The MBG program is designed by the government to reduce the high number of stunting and malnutrition cases in the community," he said.
According to him, the quality of food and nutrition is the main key to creating superior human resources. The MBG program, said Alwin, is not just a matter of food, but future investment.
The healthy child today is the leader of the nation tomorrow. We realize that the success of this program is impossible without the involvement of all parties, especially local communities. We really appreciate the support and cooperation of community leaders who have been the spearhead of the MBG Program," he explained.
Previously, member of Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Irma Suryani, during the socialization of MBG in East OKU, said that he would encourage investors to build healthy kitchens in South Sumatra to improve the welfare of the community.
