Serious Violation Of 4 3-star Hotels In Puncak Bogor, KLH Strictly Installs Seals
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Environment (KLH) has sealed four three three-star hotels in the Puncak area, Bogor Regency, West Java, because they were proven to pollute the environment and dispose of liquid waste directly into the Ciliwung River.
Minister of Environment Hanif Faisol Nurofiq said the sealing was carried out after the KLH team and the Environmental Control Agency (BPLH) inspected 18 three-star hotels.
Of these, four hotels were proven to have committed serious violations of environmental approval.
"This process will continue until all 22 three-star hotels and above in Puncak are examined and prosecuted if they violate," said Hanif in Jakarta, Antara, Sunday, August 10.
The four hotels that were sealed last Saturday were Griya Dunamis by SABDA, Taman Lotus Hotel, The Rizen Hotel, and New Ayuda 2 Hotel or Hotel Sulanjana.
KLH found violations in the form of waste disposal without processing, did not have Wastewater Processing Installation (IPAL), did not have environmental approval documents, and did not have technical approval for the quality of wastewater.
In addition, some hotels also do not have business permits, as well as disposal of domestic waste from restaurants, toilets, and public facilities directly to land or tributaries that lead to Ciliwung.
KLH Deputy for Law Enforcement Rizal Irawan emphasized that the violation not only damaged the environment but also threatened public health.
This is not just an administrative violation. There are indications of actions that have the potential to cause serious pollution. Administrative to criminal sanctions will be processed if there are no improvements according to the time given," he said.
KLH said the prosecution would not only target star hotels, but would also proceed to jasmine class hotels in the same segment, then to the next segment in the Ciliwung Watershed (DAS).

Monitoring of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry shows that the polluting parameters upstream of Ciliwung such as BOD, COD, and TSS have exceeded quality standards. Previously, KLH and BPLH had also brought order to 33 environmental governance violators upstream of the Ciliwung watershed, some of which had begun to be dismantled.
