BPBD Muara Enim Puts Out Forest And Land Fires In Suka Merindu Village

MUARA ENIM - Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra, extinguished forest and land fires (karhutla) in Suka Merindu Village, Sungai Rattan District, so that the fire did not spread widely to cause a smog disaster.

Head of BPBD Muara Enim Abdurrozieq Putra in Muara Enim, Saturday, said forest and land fires burned an area of about 100 square meters in the local village on Friday (8/8) at 18.00 WIB.

"It is suspected that the fire came from cigarette butts that were dumped by residents in the dry, flammable bush," he said.

Receiving reports from residents, his party moved quickly to the location of the hotspot to extinguish the forest and land fires so that the fire would not spread widely.

"Officers searched for hotspots which are known to be at the coordinate point of 3 deg.04'05.0''S 104 deg'21'45.0''E Suka Merindu Village," he said.

In extinguishing the fire, his party deployed dozens of joint personnel from the BPBD of the Rotan River Command Post, Gelumbang Command Post, Gelumbang 404-01 Koramil, members of the Sungai Rattan Police, the Fire Department, and assisted by local residents to extinguish the fire from the land route.

The equipment used includes one unit of passing machine, four roller hoses, one nozel unit, two KLX motorbikes, and one multipurpose box car complete with equipment to extinguish the forest and land fires fire.

Even the extinguishing was carried out using a water bombing helicopter to water the airways so that the fire was extinguished quickly.

"Based on reports, since early this morning the fire was successfully extinguished by officers in the field," he said.
