The Deputy Governor Of The Riau Islands Ensures That The Preparedness Of The Galang Island Facilities Treats Gaza Residents
Deputy Governor of the Riau Islands (Kepri) Nyanyang Haris Pratamura said the plan to treat Gaza war victims on Galang Island, Batam City, was a humanitarian mission.
This was in response to President Prabowo Subianto's directive that 2,000 war victims from Gaza would be brought to Galang Island for medical treatment and psychological treatment.
"The 2,000 Gazans will not come immediately, maybe around 500 or 300 in stages first, depending on the central government's program," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, August 9.
Nyanyang explained that the facilities on Galang Island are already available and the mission will use used facilities for handling COVID-19 at the Special Hospital for Infection (RSKI).
"The hospital is already there, the beds and places of residence are also ready," he said.
He said all facilities and infrastructure would also be prepared by the central government.
The Riau Islands Provincial Government, he continued, will coordinate with the Health Office to provide medical assistance, both from Batam City and from seven other regencies/cities in Riau Islands.
"If needed, we are ready to support the existing medical personnel and facilities," he said.

According to him, the focus of handling will only be carried out in the RSKI area and will not spread to other points.
Nyanyang said this treatment was only temporary, if it had improved, the victim would be sent back to Gaza. However, for further coordination, his party is still waiting for directions.
"We are still waiting for further directions from the center, this is a humanitarian mission that we are carrying out for the sake of world peace," he said.
