U-21 Women's Volleyball World Championship: Indonesia Finally Wins, Beats Canada 3-1

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Women's Volleyball National Team (Timnas) finally won its first victory at the 2025 U-21 Women's Volleyball World Championship (2025 FIVB Volleyball Women's U-21 World Championship).

Indonesia won 3-1 (28-26, 25-18, 18-25, and 25-21) over Canada in the match at the Java Pos Arena, Surabaya, Friday, August 8, 2025, WIB night.

A tight battle has occurred in the first set. Garuda Pertiwi must try hard to lead 1-0 through a score of up to 28-26.

In the second set, Indonesia is more comfortable. They can keep their distance so they can excel quite far 25-18.

However, Canada got the momentum in the third set. They can reduce Indonesia's resistance to rise and reduce the gap with a 25-18 win.

Fortunately, Canada's revival did not continue in the keemapt set. Indonesia again found the best game even though it was tight.

In this match, the statistics of the two teams actually fell slightly apart. In total, Indonesia packed 53 points from attacks compared to 52 belonging to Canada.

Canada then took the lead in getting points through the block, nine to four. Then, both teams collected four times of service with points.

This match difference lies in the error rate. Canada made more mistakes by itself - 35 times compared to 25 times - so that it was profitable for Indonesia.

This two-point addition makes Indonesia now in fourth place with three points from the two matches that have been played.

Previously, Garuda Pertiwi lost to Vietnam 0-3 in the opening match.

Next, the U-21 Indonesian Volleyball Team will face Puerto Rico, who is currently the caretaker of the standings of two defeats. The match will take place on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 19.00 WIB.
