Becoming The First, South Sumatra People's Wells Immediately Sign Oil Selling Contracts With Pertamina

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) ensures that the people's well program will run soon.

Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Yuliot Tanjung revealed that people's wells in South Sumatra have the potential to immediately sign oil sales contracts with Pertamina.

"Maybe South Sumatra," said Yuliot at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Building, Friday, August 8.

Yuliot explained that currently the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has identified at least 33,000 people's oil wells whose production will be recorded as part of the national oil lifting.

"There are 33,000 people's wells identified," he continued.

Furthermore, Yuliot added. The 3,000 wells will be managed by Regional Owned Enterprises (BUMD), cooperatives, or micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

"Which one can run first, not waiting for 33,000. Preparedness from local governments, BUMD, cooperatives, and small-medium business entities in their respective regions," Yuliot explained.

Just so you know, the improvement of community oil well management or later referred to as BUMD oil wells/Operatives/MSMEs, is regulated through the Regulation of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Number 14 of 2025 concerning Cooperation in Management of the Working Area for Improved Oil and Gas Production.

As is known based on the Regulation of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Number 14 of 2025, the stage of implementing the handling of community oil wells is community well inventory; the appointment of community well managers (whether through BUMD, Cooperatives and/or MSMEs); approval and cooperation agreement for BUMD/Operative/MSMEs wells with KKKS.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia emphasized that the Government does not want illegal wells to operate outside the system and be sold to illegal refineries. "People are harmed, the state is harmed, it also causes environmental, safety and social impacts," said Minister Bahlil in Jakarta, Saturday, June 28.
