Los Angeles Fires Widespread, 2,700 Residents Refuge

The bushfire in the mountainous area north of Los Angeles (LA) forced thousands of residents in the two areas in the territory to flee on Friday, August 8.

A spokesman for the Ventura County Fire Department, Andrew Dowd told AFP that at least 10 zones in LA and Ventura had issued warnings to residents to evacuate.

It was recorded that 2,700 residents in two locations were reported to have fled until 23.00 (06.00 GMT) Thursday local time.

Firefighters are currently still trying to extinguish the bush fire with 400 personnel being deployed.

LA Region watchdog Kathryn Merger, representing LA urged residents to comply with evacuation guidelines for safety.

The #Canyon fire spreads rapidly under extreme hot and dry conditions near the Ventura-LA County border, Barger wrote on his X account.

If you're in Santa Clarita, Hasley levy, or Val Verde, take the evacuation order seriously when emergency response officers say go, leave immediately. Stay alert "don't put your life at risk," he continued.
