"This week we are still focusing on preparing a bioethenol factory for domestic needs. For bioethenol, there will be an acceleration of development, especially in Merauke, South Papua," Yuliot told the media crew at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Office, Friday, August 8.
Yuliot said, this factory can start with products no later than 2027.
"We hope that by 2027 we will produce bioethenol in Merauke. We are consolidating this again," he continued.

In Brazil, he said, the government used sugarcane as a substitute for fuel oil.
On the other hand, Indonesia still imports a lot of ethanol from year to year. For this reason, the government encourages the acceleration of factory construction in Merauke.
"They use sugar cane, yes, the gasoline, they go to 100 percent, they can use it. Because they have good agriculture, the ethanol is good, the biodiesel is also the winner. We import ethanol and methanol every year. So maybe what we need to push for sugar cane is converted to ethanol and methanol," said Bahlil in Jakarta, Friday, July 18.
