PDIP: All Parties Must Respect The Results Of The Papuan Pilkada PSU, No Intervention

The PDI-P Central Executive Board (DPP) asked all parties to respect and re-vote (PSU) for the Papuan Regional Head Election (Pilkada). In addition, there should be no actions that injure the political rights of the community.

It is known that the re-voting for the Papua regional elections will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

"We consider that there are efforts or indications of fraud escalation that want to change the results of vote acquisition in the tiered plenary session. Intimidation of the voting committee (PPS) even for the Papua Province Bawaslu and district/city KPU," said PDI-P DPP chairman for Legal Affairs and Advocacy Ronny Talapessy in his statement, Friday, August 8.

The appeal was conveyed, said Ronny, because there were allegations that the parties were trying to agree with the regional election organizers to change the results of the votes, including allegations of interference from government officials to the police.

The allegation emerged because it referred to one of Benhur's rivals, Constant, who is the former Papuan Police Chief.

He gave an example, on the night of Thursday, August 7, there was intimidation by police officers against the chairman and members of the District Committee in East Sentani. A similar incident, he continued, also happened earlier in Yapen Islands Regency.

"We remind Jakarta not to intervene in the will of the people. If the people want the BTM and CK pairs to win, don't change the results," said Ronny.

"We think about justice and prosperity in accordance with the mandate of the 1945 Constitution. I ask Bawaslu to be more stringent in supervising the calculation of votes," he continued.

Based on the results of the quick count or Poltracking Indonesia with 100 percent data coming in, candidate pair (paslon) number 01, Benhur Tomi Mano' Constant Karma promoted by the PDI Perjuangan won 50.85 percent.

While candidate pair number 02, Matthew Fakhiri 'Aryoko Alberto Ferdinand Rumaropen, got 49.15 percent.

This quick count method uses multistage random sampling with a margin of error of buh1.0 percent at a 95 percent confidence level.
