PETI Raid In Pasaman, Police Burn Gold Filtering Box And Tents Of Workers

PASAMAN - The Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the Pasaman Police, West Sumatra raided gold mining without a permit or illegal by burning filter boxes to tents in the Lanai Hilir Jorong Bandarmas forest area of the West Cubanak Nagari Development, Dua Koto District, Pasaman.

Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Kasat) of the Pasaman Police, AKP Fion Joni Hayes, said that his party had deployed dozens of personnel from the Pasaman Police and the Sector Police and members of the Dua Koto Police were fully armed.

According to him, the intended mine location is located in a forest area, precisely around the intersection area of two rivers, Batang Pasaman and Batang Kundur in Lanai Hilir.

He said getting to the mine site was not easy. Apart from the steep and narrow road, the road is still slippery and muddy.

Some can be reached on motorbikes, but some have to walk along the steep cliff lip.

"Today, together with the Satreskrim Team and the Dua Koto Police, we went down to conduct raids to locations where there were suspected gold mining activities without permission in the sub-district, Dua Koto," he explained, accompanied by the Head of the Dua Sector Police, Ipda Antoni Hasibuan, quoted by ANTARA.

Several locations were visited by the team, but no mining activities were found using heavy equipment.

"Meanwhile, no heavy equipment has been found, but the team found a box of gold filtering equipment and a worker's hut at the site of a former gold mine on the banks of the Batang Pasaman River," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit.

After being confirmed to a number of local residents, about who owns the gold filtering box, but no one claimed to know.

Furthermore, members of the Satreskrim burned the illegal mining tool, so that it could no longer be used.

AKP Fion emphasized that the operation to control PETI in the jurisdiction of the Pasaman Police will continue. This effort is in order to maintain forests and the environment in Pasaman that is sustainable and maintained.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Nagari (Head of the Village) of West Cuba, Kesria Novri, who accompanied the operation to control gold mining without the permission of the Pasaman Police Satreskrim, supported the issuance of a mining permit for the people in the Lanai Sinuangon area.

"The Red and White Cooperative Nagari Cubadak Barat has been officially formed and can be used as a forum to manage people's mines if the permits can be issued," he hoped.
